Culturally sensitive care · Montreal · West Island

A Muslim therapist in Montreal who already understands.

Finding a therapist is hard enough. Finding one who understands your faith, your family's expectations, and the life you're building between cultures — without needing it all explained — is harder. Sheerose Pardhan is a Muslim psychotherapist offering couples and individual therapy in Montreal's West Island and online across Québec.

Why it matters

Therapy that doesn't need a translation.

Many Muslims in Montreal put off therapy — not because they don't need support, but because the prospect of explaining everything first is exhausting. Explaining why family honour matters. Why you can't just "set a boundary" with your parents the way a podcast suggested. Why faith isn't a coping mechanism to be examined, but the ground you stand on. Why marriage involves two families, not just two people.

With a therapist who shares that background, the explaining disappears — and the real work starts sooner. Sheerose understands Islamic values, family structures, and community life from the inside, alongside her clinical training as a psychotherapist. Nothing about your faith or culture will be treated as the problem to be fixed.

And to be clear about what this is: evidence-based psychotherapy delivered by a registered member of the OTSTCFQ — not religious advising. Faith can be an active part of the work if you want it there, or simply understood quietly in the background. That's always your call.

How I can help

For couples, and for you.

Marriage & couples counselling

The heart of the practice. For Muslim couples working through communication breakdowns, trust, emotional distance, in-law and extended-family dynamics, intercultural or interfaith marriages, and premarital conversations — with an understanding of what marriage means in your tradition.

Individual therapy

One-on-one support for anxiety, stress and burnout, low mood, grief, self-esteem, and life transitions — including the particular weight of living between cultures: generational expectations, community pressure, identity, and spiritual questions you may not feel safe voicing elsewhere.

Sheerose Pardhan, Muslim psychotherapist in Montreal's West Island

Sheerose Pardhan is a Muslim woman, a psychotherapist, and a registered member of the OTSTCFQ (Québec's professional order for social workers and couple & family therapists), with a master's degree in couple and family therapy. She works with individuals and couples to understand the patterns that shape their relationships — with themselves, and with the people who matter most.

Sessions are held in English. Sheerose also speaks Urdu and French — which means the expressions, cultural references, and family dynamics that carry so much meaning don't get lost along the way. For many South Asian clients, that alone changes how therapy feels.

And if you're not Muslim: you are just as welcome here. Cultural sensitivity isn't a filter — it's a way of listening that benefits everyone. More about Sheerose →

Good to know

Questions, answered.

Things people often wonder before reaching out.

Yes. I'm a Muslim psychotherapist in Montreal's West Island and a registered member of the OTSTCFQ. I offer a faith-sensitive space where you don't need to explain your values, family structures, or way of life.

Yes — couples therapy is the core of my practice: premarital conversations, communication, trust, in-law and extended-family dynamics, and intercultural or interfaith relationships, approached with an understanding of Islamic values around marriage and family.

As much or as little as you want. This is evidence-based psychotherapy, not religious advising — faith can be an active part of the work, or simply something that's understood in the background without needing explanation.

Sessions are held in English. I also speak Urdu and French, which means expressions, cultural references, and family dynamics don't get lost in translation.

Not at all. Everyone is welcome — clients of every background, faith, and no faith. Cultural sensitivity benefits every client.
